Oh boy do we! We have a self designed curriculum and assessment tool approved by Parent Aware. It is a combination of multiple different curriculum that include a variety of philosophies and subjects including Montessori, Waldorf, Reggio, nature, music, and art.
Well, children learn though authentic play, not just playful lessons driven by adults. We spend the majority of our time playing focusing on individual skills and needs. Think of when your child was a baby. You didn't do flash cards, work sheets, or adult directed lessons to teach them to talk; you just exposed them to your language. That's what we focus on here, exposure. We expose your children to phonics, letters, math, science, music, art, creativity, problem solving, social skills, emotional regulation, gross motor development, pre-writing skills, making healthy choices, independence, and so much more, all though play.
The majority of our food is home cooked, homemade, fresh fruit, and whole vegetables. We serve real foods and typically not pre-made and processed foods.
Due to meals being freshly made and home cooked, meal preparation takes a bit more time and work. While I need a bit of time to prepare lunch, children wash hands and then participate in a 10-15 minute Signing Time Lesson or Prodigies Music lesson where children learn either ASL hand signs or play music bells.
No, however, we do limit then number of children unvaccinated enrolled at a time.
As per licensing guidelines for family child care providers, we have no more than 10 children under the age of 5 at one time. Of these 10 children, we are allowed a certain number of infants and toddlers, however we do not currently take children under the age of 2. Along with the 10 children between 2 and 5 years of age, we may have an additional 2 children over the age of 5. And yes, it is just me, Klair, doing it all!
